Celebrating International Nurses Day 2019

May 2019

This week, the RHN celebrated the run up to International Nurses Day 2019 on Sunday 12 May. International Nurses Day is observed annually around the world on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.

As part of celebrations, wards were decorated with international flags and informative displays about the history of the day. Tea parties were also held for nurses and their teams in wards across the hospital.

A recruitment day held on Thursday 9 May allowed prospective RHN staff to join celebrations and meet with our nurses to discuss working life at the RHN over cake and coffee.

Suzie Adam, Head of Nursing at RHN, said “It’s really important to celebrate the international community of nurses, especially here at the RHN, where our nurses are representative of 43 countries from across the world. It’s a pleasure to work in such a diverse and inclusive environment, and wonderful to celebrate our shared greatness on the same day with other nurses across the world.”
